What is wellness?
Most people think that to be well or to have good health, you must:
- Exercise
- Eat right
- Be disease free
Wellness is more complex. After all, are you not a whole person? Let me suggest
that wellness consists of:
- Physical Wellness (ex. nutrition, exercise, and being disease free)
- Intellectual Wellness (ex. stress management, on-going learning, and a growth)
- Social Wellness (ex. family, friends, and social networks)
- Emotional Wellness (ex. self-esteem, self-efficacy, and resiliency)
- Psychological Wellness (ex. optimism, outlook, and self)
- Spiritual Wellness (ex. purpose and meaning)
- Financial Wellness (ex. balance and financial freedom)
When all these areas are in balance, we experience optimal wellness and health.
Considering all these dimensions of wellness might give you a new perspective on
what it means to be well.
Where are your areas of opportunity?
What would you like to try to change today?

"Wellness can only
be achived when the whole
person is taken into
consideration. We are
complex beings with
many needs."
